Shraddha Kapoor kicks off second round of training for Saina Nehwal biopic

It’s been more than a year since the ambitious Saina Nehwal biopic was announced. Shraddha Kapoor underwent extensive training for this sports film which is based on the real life Olympic champ. However, even before the film could go on floor, speculations of it being shelved started doing the rounds. Now denying the same, Shraddha Kapoor has kicked off her second round of training session to play Saina on screen.

If recent reports are to be believed, Shraddha Kapoor will be undergoing another major session of badminton training for the film. While she has already learnt a few important things about Saina’s playing style including the player’s grip on the racket and the ground. And now, the round of workshops will start to help Shraddha build her stamina for the game and also her focus.

Speaking about the film, director of the film Amole Gupte revealed that Amitosh is on board to help with the dialogues. Fans of Saina Nehwal would be aware that the sports persona hails from Hisar in Haryana and her family continue to use the dialect to converse with each other. Shraddha will have to pick up the dialect and for the same she will require the help of Amitosh. Also, the latter has written the dialogues for the film, especially the ones that require the Haryanvi twist.

Amole Gupte also mentioned in recent reports that now the training will focus on achieving a certain level of sustainability. He also wants to ensure that this will help the actress avoid any kind of injuries in the future. What, according to him, has also come in handy for them is the training that Shraddha underwent for Saaho.

For the uninitiated, Shraddha Kapoor will be seen in an action packed avatar in her multi lingual film Saaho which also stars Bahubali actor Prabhas in lead role.

Besides that, Shraddha’s another film Batti Gul Meter Chalu starring Shahid Kapoor and Yami Gautam was caught in a quandary. And now, that too is back on track and the shooting of the same will be wrapped up soon.

As for Saina Nehwal biopic, the untitled venture, produced by Bhushan Kumar, will go on floor in September.

Maika Monroe joins Shia LaBeouf’s biopic drama

The Hollywood Reporter brings word that actress Maika Monroe (Independence Day: Resurgence) has signed on to join the cast of the upcoming indie drama Honey Boy with actor Shia LaBeouf (American Honey). Alma Har’el will direct the film.

The upcoming film was co-written by LaBeouf and Otis Lort, who the actor admitted was a pseudonym thus making the film written by LaBeouf himself. It follows a young actor at two stages of his life and the relationship he has with his father at the stages, the first as the actor is starting out and the second as his career starts to take off.

Described as a meta-biopic, the film is based on LaBeouf’s own relationship with his father at these stages in his life and he will be portraying the father character, while Lucas Hedges (Lady Bird) and Noah Jupe (A Quiet Place) set to portray the actor character at the two stages. In the film the young actor shares the same name as the “co-writer,” Otis Lort.

Monroe, well-known for her performances in the acclaimed indie hits The Guest and It Follows, is set to play an aspiring actress named Sandra. Monroe joins an already strong cast that also includes Natasha Lyonne (Orange is the New Black), Martin Starr (Silicon Valley), Byron Bowers (The Chi) and Laura San Giacomo (NCIS).

Paramount sets release date for Elton John biopic, Rocketman

Your regularly scheduled game of Release Date Shuffle continues, after WB moved some films around and Fox 2000 set a date for The Hate U Give, and now it’s Paramount’s turn. The studio has announced that they’ve set, shifted, and outright removed some films from their upcoming release schedule.

Up first is their in-development biopic of Elton John. Titled Rocketman and set to star Taron Egerton, who co-starred with the musician in Kingsman: The Golden Circle, the film will be released on May 17, 2019. Rocketman will open against John Wick: Chapter 3, A Dog’s Journey, and The Sun is Also a Star on that date. Dexter Fletcher will be directing the film from a script by Lee Hall. Matthew Vaughn and his Marv Films will be producing alongside Elton John with his Rocket Pictures partner David Furnish. Production is set to start this summer.

Next up is the upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s Pet Sematary, which is actually moving ahead by two weeks from April 19, 2019 to April 5, 2019. Directed by Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch (Starry Eyes), the film is written by Jeff Buhler and is set to star John Lithgow in the role of Jud Crandall, previously played by the late Fred Gwynne in the 1989 adaptation of the book.

Furthermore, Paramount has announced that the previously announced, albeit untitled, Transformers 6 has been removed from their schedule entirely. The film was rumored to be scrapped after the series was said to be taking a different turn with the upcoming Bumblebee solo movie.

Finally, in the wake of Transformers 6’s cancellation, Paramount has slotted the Tiffany Hadish vehicle Limited Partners in the original release date for the robots in disguise. The comedy will debut June 28, 2019.

After the phenomenal success of Raid, father-son producer Kumar Mangat and Abhishek Pathak of Panorama Studios have acquired the rights of the best seller on Amazon India, ‘Miles to Run before I Sleep.’

The book is written by Sumedha Mahajan and is a true story of herself, a married, working woman who undertook an extraordinary journey of running 1500 kms in 30 days from Delhi to Mumbai
